Fall 2025 Events

The Teaching Edge: To Read or Not to Read?
(Hybrid Workshop)

Date: Tuesday, November 11th, 2:30 - 4:00 pm CT
Location: Digital Learning Lab - Room 101, Carl Parker Building

Join us for our next Faculty Success Workshop, where we will explore how strategic text formatting can dramatically improve student engagement with announcements, instructions, and course materials. Learn how to use headings, bolding, spacing, and visual hierarchy to guide attention, reduce cognitive load, and make your content more accessible.

Leveling Up Learning Part I: Strengthening Course Objectives, Rigor, and Alignment Across All Levels
(Hybrid)

Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2:30 - 4:00 PM CST
Location: Digital Learning Lab - Room 101, Carl Parker Building
Presenter: Andrea Stephenson, Ashley Dockens

Strong, measurable course objectives and learning outcomes are the foundation of effective teaching and accreditation success. However, across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses, many syllabi reveal inconsistent use of Bloom’s Taxonomy and uneven expectations for critical thinking and rigor, especially in cross-listed or stacked courses. This workshop helps faculty re-examine, refine, and elevate their course objectives and outcomes with the support of CITL, DARpA, and integrated AI tools. Participants will learn practical strategies to ensure outcomes are measurable, aligned, and appropriate to the course level, while maintaining compliance and institutional quality standards.

Roundtable: Artificial Intelligence

Date: Wednesday, November 19th, 10:30 - 11:30 am CT
Location: Sabine 1 - Room 123, Setzer Student Center

Pull up a chair and join us for a relaxed, brunch-style Faculty Roundtable where we’ll dive into the evolving world of artificial intelligence in higher education. This informal gathering invites faculty to share experiences, ask questions, and explore ideas with peers and subject matter experts. Whether you're curious about how AI is shaping teaching and learning, concerned about student use, or experimenting with tools yourself, this is a space to connect, reflect, and learn together.

Leveling Up Learning Part II: Aligning Assignments and Evaluations with Revised Course Objectives
(Hybrid)

Date: Tuesday, January 27, 2:30 - 4:00 PM CST
Location: Digital Learning Lab - Room 101, Carl Parker Building
Presenter: Andrea Stephenson, Ashley Dockens

Once course objectives are clearly defined and appropriately leveled, the next step is ensuring assignments and evaluations meaningfully reflect and reinforce those goals. In this hands-on workshop, faculty will learn how to design or revise assessments, ranging from discussion prompts and papers to exams and projects that align with updated learning outcomes and promote deeper critical thinking. Members of CITL and DARpA will guide participants through strategies for scaffolding rigor across course levels, integrating AI-supported feedback tools, and maintaining consistency and compliance in grading practices. Faculty will leave with practical tools to strengthen transparency, equity, and alignment in their course design.
