Long time fitness trainer Tracie Long has become an icon for women and fellow moms across the globe for her work with The Firm, one of the most successful fitness franchises in history with sales exceeding 100 million units worldwide.  Starring, appearing in or choreographing more than 15 titles, Tracie is one of the most sought after fitness instructors in America.

At 46 years old, Long shows no signs of slowing down as she’s spent more than 25 years in the fitness industry on both DVD and LIVE at her own studio in Downtown Charleston, SC.  In her DVD collections, Tracie educates  both new and veteran mothers ages 35+ how to tighten, tone, and reach their ultimate fitness goals by incorporating a series of workouts that make women feel fabulous, gain mobility and strength, and have more energy in their hectic lives.

A native of Virginia, Tracie’s father was a local celebrity as an offense back for the Virginia Tech Hokies. She credits his athleticism as her inspiration to pursue fitness.

While attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia, her dad noticed during one winter break she looked gaunt and was thinner than normal. He correctly guessed she had been starving herself to lose weight. The next morning he made her jog with him and this continued every day during her vacation. It was through his tough love she learned to control her weight through exercise and a fire was ignited within her. She changed her college major from pre-med biology to exercise science, and the rest is history.

In Columbia, South Carolina she answered an ad to work for The Firm, ultimately the most successful exercise video series created. Her first job was selling memberships out of a cigar box and cleaning the gym at the end of the day. The owner and creator of The Firm discovered Tracie had a music background, and  she was sent to the corporate office to help develop music soundtracks for the trainers. Soon after she was asked to train people and this ultimately led to working on and starring in two dozen  titles.

Today, Tracie and her husband, John own and manage Long Training Studios in Charleston, South Carolina. Members are coached individually and in small groups through workouts designed to get results that seem unattainable in traditional gyms.

“We serve all ages, but really attract the undeserved female segment of working and stay-at-home mothers,” said Long. Her studio also has classes for senior citizens and her oldest client is 82-years-young.

Tracie currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina with her husband, John and two daughters.

Her advice for anyone wanting to get in shape is this:

“It’s never too late to get back in your groove.”
